Tonight MYM.CS:GO played Ninjas in Pyjamas in a best of one in the SLTV StarSeries. The SLTV StarSeries is one of the premier online leagues in world featuring the absolute best teams in Europe.
Speaking of the absolute pinnacle of Counter-Strike, our side did not have the easiest task in their debut in the StarSeries as we had to play the formidable and legendary, Ninjas in Pyjamas. The team has been a dominating force ever since the release of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and were by far the favorites to take the match.
Our team unfortunately lost the knife round and won the right to choose the side which they would like to begin on. In this particular case it was very important as the map was de_nuke, a heavily favored map for the Counter-Terrorist side. NiP started as Counter-Terrorist and showed why they are one of the best teams in the world. At the end of the first half the score wasn’t really close, being 13-2… in NiPs favor. The second half however was much closer than the first as MYM managed to get a lot of rounds but MYM was too far behind to get the comeback and the end result was 16-13.
Although we started the season with a loss, we are optimistic about the future this season will bring. Objectively speaking, we weren’t expected to win this match and we brought it very close! This shows that our team is very strong this season and could fight for a spot at the LAN finals at the end of the season.
Statement from the team manager, Łukasz “prawus” Ganczewski:
“Even though we lost our first match, I think that as our debut we could say this match went well. Everyone knew that NiP were the heavy favorites and that it will be tough for us to beat them. The match ended 16-13 however I think we showed our best side for our first ever match in SLTV StarSeries. After a hard game on the Terrorist side we made a great comeback as CT and showed what we’re worth. Who knows, if not a few mistakes maybe we could have brought it to a tie or defeated one of the best teams in the world? I am anxiously waiting for our next match!”
