Season Two Regional Finals - Cologne overview
With the Season 2 coming to an end, the
regional finals will be held in Cologne this weekend. With 8 of European best
teams competing for the grand prize of $40,000 and the prestigious title of
Season 2 regional winner, mymym.com brings you a review of each team and what
we can expect from this tournament.
Moscow Five
European Challenger
Circuit: Poland
Dreamhack
Summer 2012
IEM VI - World
Championship
IEM VI - Kiev
Elite of Europe
ESL Major Series Season
IX
Corsair Vengence Cup
The Team of
Moscow Five is
the biggest favourite of this tournament. With their amazing performance in
2012 and great tournament attendance, M5 will be coming prepared for sure. The
Russians will surely be aiming for the gold medal and the title of Season 2
winners.
Counter Logic Gaming EU
European
Challenger Circuit: Poland
Dreamhack Summer 2012
5-6th MLG 2012 - Spring championship
Corsair Vengence cup
Gamers Assembly 2012
CLG.EU had a great
season as well. The mixed European lineup of Dreamhack winners will be sure to
give each opponent a hard time. Without a roster change, these guys have been
playing together under the CLG organisation since 2011. People have high
expectations of this team and we're hoping to see them in the finals as well.
SK Gaming
European
Challenger Circuit: Poland
5-6th IEM VI - World Championship
IEM VI - Kiev
EM VI - New
York
IEM VI -
Guangzhou
The well known organisation of
SK Gaming will surely not miss out this event. event. Despite all the roster and role changes in this team, SK have still played well trough the whole year and managed to compete both in Europe and North America. Although they're showing great gameplay, the real question is if they're prepared to compete for the title of Season 2 regional winners. They're sure not to underestimate.
Team Curse EU
European Challenger Circuit: Poland
Dreamhack Summer 2012
Elite of Europe
Reign of Gaming International Invitational
The northern European lineup of
Team Curse EU have had a fairly good season as well. The Champions of Elite of Europe and the bronze of Dreamhack Summer tournaments have proven that they can compete and win against best of European teams. Although they record heave losses to M5, they'll surely come prepared looking for a rematch, this time - in their favour.
FnaticRC
Dreamhack Summer 2012
5-6th MLG 2012 - Spring Championship
5-6th OGN 2012 - Spring
9-10th IEM VI - World Championship
The recent lineup changes in FnaticRC will surely affect their performance. Not only a week has passed since nRated has joined the lineup. With great performance in Season 1 and the begginning of Season 2, a slightly weaker performance can be seen in Fnatic's gameplay. The guys had the shortest time to prepare due to the recent roster change in their Support role, but hopefully they'll get back to their old, world-famous roots and defend the black-orange colors of Fnatic.
Team Acer.PL
5-6th European Challenger Circuit: Poland
5-6th Dreamhack Summer 2012
One of two Polish competitors in this tournament had a solid season so far. They did decent in big tournaments and have won many minor and monthly tournaments, playing against most of the other competitors of this tournament. They're facing
SK in the first round and if they manage to win that game the expectations of their further performance will be quite high.
Team Alternate
7-8th IEM World Championship
The German team will be performing in front of their home crowd, and that's probably their current biggest strenght. With a slightly weaker season behind them, they'll be looking forward to correct their past mistakes back in their homeland.
EloHell.net
5-6th European Challenger Circuit: Poland
The relatively new Polish team grabbed the last spot in the Decider and is attenting this tournament to prove themselves worthy. They'll be facing the favourites,
M5 in the first round. If they can win the first round, they'll surely be in top 4.
After only recently watching the IPL Face Off tournament, it'll be interesting to see how Europeans perform and the difference in gamestyle between EU and NA/Asia. This tournament will surely bring a lot of exciting and interesting matches, but only one team can win the title of Regional Season 2 champion!
