MYM enters the World of Tanks competitive scene by signing former ´Red Tide´

A happy day for us at MYM, as we can finally announce that we have reached an agreement with the World of Tanks team formerly known as ´Red Tide´ to represent us this year in the growing game designed by Wargaming.

As a major electronic sports organization, Meet Your Makers is always looking for new opportunities to expand our operations. Today, we would like to announce that we have decided to join the World of Tanks competitive scene, after we managed to reach an agreement with one of the top teams in the scene, formerly known as ´Red Tide´.

With this move, we have decided to join the competitive scene of one of the biggest up and coming online multiplayer games, one that we believe will only keep growing in 2013, both in terms of competitions and player base. Going this early into the scene, we had the advantage of being able to select our team from a wide pool of available teams, which ultimately allowed us to sign such a talented and dedicated team as Red Tide.

Without further a-do, you can find our complete lineup below:

Yuri Bukharov (YR) – main team (manager)

Sergey Popugaev (Sech) – main team (captain)

Artur Ulianytskyi (Ronnie) – main team

Vladimir Sobolev (MerzkiyVini) – main team

Nikolaos Lemos (NikLemos) – main team

Karim Turdikulov (OstapBender) – main team

Vladislav Verbitskyi (Agriel) – main team

Aleksandrs Grigorjevs (Arikatoll) – reserve

Maxim Khrusin (SKILLmax) – reserve

Nikolai Voitsehhovski (Maclay) - reserve

The first competition for our newly signed team will be Intel Extreme Masters Katowice, which is set to kick-off next weekend, and where they will fight against 7 other teams for a total prize pot of $15,000. In order to qualify for the tournament, our team had to beat all their competition in the EU West qualifier.

The players of our team making the trip to Katowice will be:

Yuri Bukharov (YR) – main team (manager)

Artur Ulianytskyi (Ronnie) – main team

Vladimir Sobolev (MerzkiyVini) – main team

Nikolaos Lemos (NikLemos) – main team

Karim Turdikulov (OstapBender) – main team

Aleksandrs Grigorjevs (Arikatoll) – reserve

Nikolai Voitsehhovski (Maclay) - reserve

In light of this announcement, we talked to ESL´s World of Tanks Community Manager, Steven Neale, who had the following to say:

¨World of Tanks is a relatively young esports title without much of an history, but the game still managed to establish and make a name for itself. Today, World of Tanks is one of the biggest titles on the ESL platform, with thousands of players participating every week in the Go4WoT Series and many other cups for money, gold and reputation.

I am happy to see, that an esports organization like Meet Your Makers is aware of the situation of World of Tanks in the esports scene and sees the potential of the game now and for the future. Thanks to the excellent preparation, Meet your Makers was able to gain a heads start compared to its competitors by signing one of Europe’s strongest World of Tanks teams. With the former Red Tide line up, MYM hired a dedicated, passionate team that cannot just perform on the highest level constantly, but also enjoys playing the game as team (in my opinion, one the reasons why they are so successful)

I’m hoping that other esports organizations will follow the example of MYM. There are many high level teams out there waiting for such an opportunity.

I wish MYM and Red Tide the best of luck for 2013, a big esports year for World of Tanks.¨

We also talked to Simon ´Bump´ Bennett, who is the eSports manager for Wargaming in Europe, and who had the following to say:

¨ MYM stepping into the World of Tanks scene ushers in a new stage of eSports and its relationship with our game. Such a powerful team like MYM taking on Red Tide shows that World of Tanks is now a contender in eSports and reflects how seriously we will be taking the discipline in 2013. This is just the first step this year and with MYM in the picture it’s become a leap!¨

This is just the start of many new exciting projects for MeetYourMakers in 2013, a year we expect will bring the rebirth of MeetYourMakers as many of you knew it in the past. We can only hope that the World of Tanks community will rally behind our team, and support them in their first event at Intel Extreme Masters Katowice this weekend.
