Starladder full of disappointments, travel support money yet to be received by teams

Today we have to report about how disappointed MeetYourMakers is with the outcome of the Starladder Season 3 Finals and the behaviour of its organizers. The event was full of broken promises and unfair treatment.

As many of you may know, MYM’s DotA 2 team just recently participated in the Starladder Season 3 finals, which were held in the Kiev Cybersports Arena, located in the Ukrainian capital city of Kiev. Unfortunately, today we have to report about how disappointed we feel with the organizers behind the event, and mainly, Vitalii "v1lat" Volochai. The organization and Vitalli have continually failed to go through with their promises, and even though we have tried our utmost best to communicate with them, they have never replied to our concerns, completely ignoring us. As a professional organization in the forefront of electronic sports, we feel there is no other choice but to make this public, as we would not want other teams to be fooled by Vitalli and his organization in the future.

We have made a list with the broken promises, as well as the incidents that occurred during and after the event:

- First and foremost, Vitalli and his organization compromised to pay a total of 1,000 Dollars to each of the attending teams in order to cover some of the travel costs. The deadline to receive this money was November 2nd. Unfortunately, as of this date, we can confirm that no money has been perceived by MeetYourMakers GmbH or other teams which we have been in constant contact with.

- Hotel accommodation was supposed to be provided by Starladder, but, when we required an extra room to accommodate all of our players and our manager, our request was denied. This left MeetYourMakers GmbH with no other choice but to book another room for our guys, so that they didn’t need to sleep on the stone ground.

- During the first days of the event, Natus Vincere and JoinDotA received free food and drinks, while the rest of the teams participating had to pay for them; we consider this unacceptable and really discriminatory. Either all of the teams receive food for free, or none of them receive it, but this favoritism is just pathetic.

- On the next days of the event, we noticed another discriminatory action by Starladder, as we can confirm they told a Muslim, Product Manager for DotA2 in the ESL and ex Team Manager of Skanes Elit, that he either ate pork or nothing at all.

We talked with Niklas ‘Wagamama’ Högström who is the captain of Team Pulse, who participated at the event, just so he could confirm our claim about the money, something he did, pointing out that his team has not received the travel expenses money either.

On this matter, we also talked to someone who works for the ESL, but preferred to remain anonymous; this is what he had to say:

“They promised a lot but the most was just wrong, joinDota staff and Na´Vi had an awesome hotel with 4 stars and the other teams had to sleep with 5-6 man in apartments far away from the cyber arena and team Pulse had to sleep in a shelter with open electricity in the wall and without light in the bedroom, also they promised free food and transport but we had to pay for everything in the first days but not the joinDota staff, they got everything for free. The most of the teams paid a few hundred euros for the transport between the "apartments" and the cyber arena.”

We hope that after exposing these points, our fans will understand why we believed there was no better option than to make this public. We firmly believe that in order for electronic sports to grow and become professional, all of these toxic event organizers should disappear, as all they do is take the money of the sponsors, and make the teams waste considerable amounts of money in order to attend events just to then find out that the event is not as it was promised to be.

We have no hope to receive what is owed to us, but we are at least happy that our experience will serve other teams to not make the same mistake we did. Stay tuned to mymym.com, as we will keep you updated shall any new development occur on this matter.
