Riot Games reveals info about the qualification process for Season 3
After making us wait for a little bit, Riot Games has finally revealed how the qualification process for Season 3 will work out.
Riot Games, the North American game publisher responsible for the highly acclaimed League of Legends have this past weekend revealed their plans for the Season 3 Qualification stages.
CLG.eu have already qualified for the Season 3 Championship, but another 10 teams will join them after the qualifiers have ended, 5 from North America and 5 from Europe (between EUW and EUNE).
To qualify, all you and your team will have to do is place in the top 32 of the ranked 5v5 ladder if you play in the NA server or on the top 16 if your team plays in the EUW or EUNE servers. You can start working towards this goal after the soft ELO reset takes place on November 6, with your deadline to achieve this goal being December 27. After that, Riot Games will organize online qualifiers from January 4 to January 6, from where the top 6 finishers will receive an all expenses paid trip to an offline qualifier where they will face the teams which participated in the regional qualifiers for Season 2 Championship finals, but didn’t manage to prequalify for this new season, as well as against a few new teams from the Challenger Circuit events.
For those of you who don’t want to read much, you can find a small summary of what you have to do to qualify below:
- Hold one of the top 32 positions in the Ranked Team 5v5 ladder on December 27 to earn a spot in the online qualifier. (NA)
- Hold one of the top 16 positions in the Ranked Team 5v5 ladder on December 27 to earn a spot in the online qualifier. (EUW and EUNE)
- Take top six in the online qualifier to advance and compete against Season Two’s remaining North American and European Regional Qualifiers competitors and new Challenger Circuit contenders at a live competition.
- Finish in the top five of the live qualifiers for your invitation to go pro in Season Three.
This new qualifying method gives every team the same chances of qualifying by competing against each other in the 5v5 team ladder, and opens up the possibility of unknown teams qualifying for Season 3. Stay tuned to mymym.com as we will keep you updated on any other Season 3 Championship info that may be revealed in the future.
