News:
iG wins The International 2
Defeating the defending champions Na`Vi, Invictus Gaming take home the prize of $1,000,000.
In round 3 of the winner bracket,
Na`Vi was able to defeat
iG 2-1. After this, they played very impressively against
LGD who have been undefeated until that point. Meanwhile, iG fought their way through the losers bracket. In the loser bracket final, they managed to take down their fellow countrymen LGD who dropped down after their loss to Na`Vi. With LGD being completely out of the tournament, iG advanced to the grand final only to face Na`Vi again. This time, they come out on top and beat Na`Vi 3-1. We have seen a very high niveau of skill from these last three teams, the games were amazing to watch. For those who missed out the games, we will give you a review, although they are definitely worth to take the time and watch them.
Game 1
Radiant - Na`Vi
Dark Seer, Chen, Shadow Shaman, Queen of Pain, Naga Siren
Dire - iG
Rubick, Leshrac, Broodmother, Nightstalker, Templar Assassin
When both teams head for the Dire jungle, iG gets first blood even before the game starts. This gives TA the start she needs. Shortly after this, Na`Vi can respond with a kill on Broodmother. On top lane, Dark Seer ist completely shut down by the iG tri lane and with Leshrac, they get two fast towers on that lane. However, Dark Seer has some kind of comeback in form of a double kill when TA and NS try to gank Naga at night. Na`Vi is also able to take a tower mid but they pay with the death of some of their heroes which makes it easy for iG to claim roshan. While iG gains advantage in the game, Naga still is the most farmed hero. The only thing Na`Vi can do is to stick as five, or else they would be picked up by iG, so they go for a long siege on iG's bottom tower and at the end are able to bring the tower down for free. When they retreat, iG follows Na`Vi and team wipe them at their own bottom tower. 23 minutes into the game, the Na`Vi mid barracks fall. XBOCT on the Naga gets outfarmed and iG bring down roshan again. In the last teamfight, they take out Naga before she can cast her ultimate, Na`Vi needs to call GG.
Game 2
Radiant - iG
Rubick, Nightstalker, Templar Assassin, Broodmother, Lina
Dire - Na`Vi
Dark Seer, Leshrac, Chen, Dragon Knight, Naga Siren
Both teams don't change much in their draft in the second game and this time it's Na`Vi to claim first blood on broodmother just at the start of the game. They also put a lot of aggression on the TA mid, but a smoke gank by Rubick and Lina brings down Dragon Knight. Broodmother on the top lane dies again, but is able to deny the tower with her spiderlings. Na`Vi pulls off a great defense of their mid tower, securing them two kills and a deny on the tower. iG however has not that much luck on defending their top T2 tower, their whole team being wiped out. Na`Vi directly goes for the barracks and a few minutes later take down the second barracks. They win the game, making it 1-1.
Game 3
Radiant - Na`Vi
Rubick, Nature's Prophet, Naga Siren, Shadow Shaman, Dragon Knight
Dire - iG
Dark Seer, Enigma, Lone Druid, Queen of Pain, Disruptor
After the first two picks of iG (Dark Seer, Enigma), Na`Vi is forced to pick Naga for the third time in a row because the combination of Naga with the other two heroes would be too strong. The Disruptor pick really works out for iG and he also gets - together with Lone Druid - the first blood on Prophet. Meanwhile, Lone Druid lends his bear to Dark Seer to pull the Radiant creeps and help him out on the lane which gives fast levels to the Dark Seer who would else have been shut down by Shadow Shaman and Naga. After 12 minutes, still only 2 kills happened and a smoke gank by iG has no success. 6 minutes later, the Naga ultimate protects Na`Vi from losing their whole team. While iG is getting stronger and stronger, the radiance on Naga which comes up at the 27th minute is not enough to stop iG from two free roshans. First, Na`Vi is able to defend their base, but nor for long. They lose a teamfight at their mid barracks and iG wins the game: 2-1 for them.
Game 4
Radiant - iG
Dark Seer, Naga Siren, Templar Assassin, Tidehunter, Keeper of the Light
Dire - Na`Vi
Rubick, Leshrac, Juggernaut, Lone Druid, Nyx Assassin
In a 3v3 fight, Na`Vi manages to claim first blood on the Naga. The TA teleports in and gets revenge. While iG picks up more kills, Na`Vi continue to push towers. The defending champions are forced into the defending role in the game. A roshan attempt by them leads to a teamfight. Shortly after this, they are able to defend their last T2 tower and get a free roshan. The next roshan is secured for iG by the Naga ultimate. Although Na`Vi constantly lose the teamfights, they keep pushing out of their base, bringing the fight to iG. Lone Druid ist the most farmed hero on the map. More than 40 minutes into the game. Na'Vi tries to set up a trap in the radiant jungle but again lose the fight. After taking roshan, iG wins the next teamfight with their huge AOE combo, Shiva's Guard on DS increasing the damage even more. Na`Vi somehow still manages to hold on but after 55 minutes, they lose not only another teamfight, but also the game. The Nyx Assassin pick did not work out at all and the smart play of iG's Tidehunter prevented Rubick from stealing Ravage all the time. iG wins The International with a strong performance.
Congratulations to iG and thanks to Valve and all of the teams for such an epic tournament.
